Capacitive proximity sensors can detect any object in a contactless manner. Capacitive proximity switches can detect both metallic and non-metallic objects. Regardless of the color and surface condition of the object being detected, whether transparent or not, they can reliably detect liquids in sealed non-metallic containers with adjustable sensitivity knobs. Materials such as powders can be indirectly detected. Almost all materials can be identified.
Working principle
Capacitive proximity switch is also a type of position sensor with switch output. Firstly, the capacitance between the sensor sensing surface electrode and the circuit potential electrode needs to be measured. An approaching object affects the electric field between the two poles of this capacitor. This principle applies not only to metallic objects, but also to non-metallic objects.
Capacitive sensors typically operate through an RC oscillator, and even a small change in capacitance can affect their amplitude. Then the integrated circuit converts the amplitude into a switch signal, and its sensitivity can be adjusted through a potentiometer.
